It’s easy to feel like this sometimes, but, imagine how soul destroying it would be if this was your reality, your actual, everyday life.
UNWANTED
To be a child unwanted, born to a home uncaring
To live each day unnoticed, neglected and despairing.
To have no attention paid to you, no love, no mercy, rage.
To wish it could be different and you could just turn the page.
How very miserable the child, who finds this is his life
No care, no kindness, hunger……… days filled with endless strife.
A family he’s not proud of, a home devoid of joy,
A father he’s ashamed of, embarrassed to be his boy.
He stares at other children, kids with clothes and shoes, school bags.
He stands alone, heart feels like stone and clutches at his rags.
He so longs for a hero, someone like you or me,
To ease his pain and notice him and let his heart run free.
So, should you meet a little one, no lunchbox, empty hands,
Cowering, eyes down and shoulders too,
Avoiding looking right at you,
Do as the Lord Jesus would do.
Meet his needs right where he stands.
Don’t be too quick to judge him for his rags and unkempt hair.
It’s not his fault. This is his life. One of darkness and despair.
I’m sure he’d rather trade it for a simple, pleasant life,
Where he could be a happy child, fed, clothed and taken care of,
By a kind man and his wife.
Set free to grow and prosper and become a grateful man,
Allowed to live a rich, full life, with hopes and dreams and plans.
A kind word, some encouragement, Oh, that can mean so much
To a poor and needy, lost, wee soul,
Who longs for a gentle touch.
This child came from our Father’s hand, God knew him from the start,
He held this little, trembling one, oh, so close to His heart.
He made the choice to send him to a world of sin and shame,
Because, He said, ‘My bride lives there. The ones who bear my Name.
And surely they will care for him, feed, clothe him, meet his needs
For Jesus stands at My right hand, and how he intercedes
For those who are unwanted, for those who don’t feel grace
For those He longs to walk with as they learn to seek his face.’
So please be one who notices, when others round you ache
And be Jesus, clothed in flesh to them for this is what it takes
To shine your light in the darkest place and lift up Jesus’ name
By doing so, you’ll leave a glow
And they’ll never be the same.
My heart for today is to see the world set on fire for Father God, by the power of the Holy Spirit…….one person at a time.
